Matt Tutt

I am the reluctant founder or initiator of the No To Big Tech movement (previously known as DeGoogle).

I didn't want to be included on the website because I didn't want to make this about me... but at the same time, I do want to ensure anyone that is willing to get involved to help this movement deserves to be featured here. We're not doing this for money or power... the movement is being designed so that everyone has an equal say in how it is run.

In my day job I work as an SEO consultant so I have for many years been in contact with algorithms and working on Big Tech platforms. I help clients get more visible on Google (!) and so I understand I am in a super weird position. But I am facing up to my position within the world in which we currently reside.

I am slowly de-Googling and shifting away from Big Tech. I am by no means a tech expert but I have learned a lot from starting this movement, particularly from other people who are fans of the movement.

I would like to add, none of this is new, people have been anti Big Tech for decades, and so I am just riding the wave here. I feel we needed a different approach to tackling the problem - one which creates community and guides people through the process. There are plenty of great online guides out there - but they don't provide much personalised support.

I am also involved in the degrowth space and I believe there is a big overlap between that topic, and with the idea of dismantling Big Tech and the establishment.
